About

Welcome to my therapy practice, my name is Sherrie (she/her/hers). I offer individual psychotherapy for adults, primarily BIPOC, with a focus on trauma healing and treatment. I also support people who are experiencing depression, anxiety, mood disorders, relationship issues, and other stressors. I practice through a social justice lens. I believe that our experiences can only be understood within the political and social contexts in which we live. As part of our therapy, we will explore how social systems and structural oppression have impacted your beliefs about yourself, your relationships, and the world around you. To support you in your healing and growth, I am trained and use several methods including Eye Movement Reprocessing Desensitization (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and somatic and mindfulness practices. I am committed to providing culturally-responsive and LGBTQIA+ affirming care. I meet with clients virtually as well as in two office locations in New York City, conveniently located in Manhattan and Queens. For more information about my services, email sherrie@sherriewaller.com with questions or to schedule a phone consultation. I look forward to having the opportunity to work together. FEES & INSURANCE I am an out-of-network provider. Session fees are determined using a sliding scale that considers income, resources and obligations. Feel free to contact me for questions that are helpful to ask your insurance company to confirm out-of-network benefits. CLINICAL TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and have been providing individual therapy services since 2017. My clinical and educational training include: o Foundations in Somatic Abolitionism Training with Education for Racial Equity o 4-year clinical training program at the Critical Therapy Institute o EMDR at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapies (ICP) o 2-year Integrated Trauma Studies at ICP o Master of Science in Social Work at Columbia University o Master of Science in Urban Planning at Columbia University Prior to providing therapy services, I worked as a Program Director of a transitional housing program centered on trans and cisgender women of color with experiences of incarceration and homelessness. I have past experience in policy and program administration related to housing justice with youth and adults who have been impacted by the justice system.
